Archaeological Dig
Class 4 have been fortunate enough to be able to visit the archaeological dig that is taking place near Halberton this week where they have uncovered the remains of a Roman Villa. On Friday we were visited by Becky Milne who has been working at the site and was able to give the class a greater understanding of Roman activity in the local area as well as deepening their knowledge of what Roman Villas would have looked like.
On Monday afternoon we were then able to visit the site and see all the work that is currently taking place. Children were able to walk around the different sites; looking at the Villa, bath house and additional building that have been uncovered. They were able to see remains of the incredible polychromatic mosaic found at the site as well as some of the other artefacts that have been uncovered. They were also able to speak to archaeologists about their work as well as seeing them at work on the site.
