Year 4 - Lifepath Trip
Lifepath Tiverton invites Year 4 pupils to step into history and explore the Christian faith through the inspiring “life paths” of the Wesley family — Susanna, John, Charles and Samuel — whose story is closely connected with Tiverton.
Through drama, storytelling, music and creative activities, children discover how faith shaped the choices, character and courage of this remarkable family. Their journeys become a starting point — a springboard — for pupils to reflect on their own life path:
- What shapes our choices?
- What influences our values?
- What kind of difference might we make?
Lifepath is not just about learning history — it’s about inspiring thoughtful reflection, curiosity and imagination for today. It’s safe to say that much was enjoyed and learned throughout the immersive and wholesome experience. Our Year 4s had a fantastic time engaging in four activities, starting off with a lesson in Latin and handwriting using a quill with Susanna Wesley; using a pestle and mortar to grind a variety of plants to make remedies inspired by John Wesley’s book to provide free health care to the poor; singing one of 6000 hymns written by Charles Wesley and making beautiful Christmas wreaths; and following clues to find the missing pieces of an old map of Tiverton under the watchful eye of Samuel Wesley, the headmaster of Blundell’s school! Of course, the stern headmaster (and every other member of the Lifepath team) praised our Year 4s for their outstanding behaviour, manners and enthusiasm! Year 4, thank you for representing Bolham school to the highest of standards, you did us proud!
Here are some photos from the day.
