It’s a Win for Bolham!

Today we have battled our nerves competing in the Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition.  We had to stand up and present a speech to a large audience of unknown faces and many teams competing.  We have to admit it was quite hard.  As we were the last team to compete, that meant we had to sit through all six speeches before our turn.  Obviously our nerves got the better of us, but we pushed through as a team.  When the awards were announced, our faces immediately lit up with joy, but it almost didn’t matter because we felt proud of ourselves anyway.

Bolham Singers

Bolham Singers stole the show at the Christmas Concert in St Andrew’s Church in Tiverton on 17th December! Around 100 singers took part, including 20 of the Bolham Singers. The adult community choir, VoiceWorx, had organised the concert to raise funds for the church and invited Bolham Singers and the vocal group Bel Canto to take part with them. All three groups performed their own sets of songs wonderfully, inspiring the audience to rapturous applause! The concert included several songs performed with the choirs in partnership – Adiemus by Carl Jenkins (you’d know it if you heard it), the Shepherds Pipe Carol by John Rutter and the wonderful Mary’s Boy Child, which raised the roof and brought a standing ovation. Well done again Bolham Singers!

The concert raised the amazing sum of more than £750 for the church – well done everyone, and thanks for coming!

Don’t miss the next big performance by Bolham Singers – “Vocalize” on 22nd March, in partnership with students from Cullompton Community College.
